Join with us at Blue Avocado in supporting the people of community nonprofits and the movements for social change that they both lead and build. We are experimenting with a public television model. You know how it works: public TV is free to watch, but thousands of people support it with modest and large donations. By joining, these members support independent programming, and at higher levels you get a tote bag (or something). 
In the same way, it's free to subscribe and register (to comment) at Blue Avocado, and we're also asking you to support Blue Avocado by becoming a member. Blue Avocado Stringers are volunteer writers and listening posts who participate in the Blue Avocado community in several ways, including:
- Seeking out and submitting pieces to recurring features such as Word On The Street, Seen & Heard, and Take a 3 Minute Vacation Right Now
- Responding to RFSs (Requests For Stories) when we're working on a story but need the right angle or the right people to interview
- Serving as weather stations in the nonprofit sector and in community movements, spotting phenomena and trends that Blue Avocado should be reporting on

The email newsletter is sent to more than 50,000 subscribers on the 1st and 15th of every month. In addition, the website replicates the email newsletter on publication dates, and is updated even more often.
Advertisers: Every one of Blue Avocado's 50,000 subscribers sees all the ads in email, without having to click on anything else. Advertisements are a great way to reach them as well as thousands of web visitors. Right column button ads rotate position. Ask for our rate card.
