American culture purports to "value" family, but too few public policies, and corporate and nongovernmental practices promote strong families and successful youth. This newest brief from the National Human Services Assembly, "Family Strengthening Writ Large," challenges the human services sector, in partnership with low-income families, to make "family fundamentals" a reality for the vast majority of families.

 

The National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS) is the national clearinghouse of data on the nonprofit sector in the United States. NCCS works closely with the IRS and others and builds national, state, and regional databases and develops uniform standards for nonprofit reporting.

 

Ready to Lead? Next Generation Leaders Speak Out: As the sector turns its attention to strengthening its leadership pipeline, this 2008 study of 4,700 nonprofits finds positive indicators on the recruitment, retention, and development of next-generation leaders.
